So this past week has been interesting. I must say that I am glad I am the type of person who is okay doing things by myself or else I would be screwed! I am always trying to find different ways to meet people here in the city! I have tried to take advantage of the Aggie network here but things never seem to work out with that!
Every televised Aggie game is watched at a bar called the “Irish Rogue” over near Time Square. I decided this past Thursday night to head over there to watch the game. Kim’s thought bubble (This will be great, I bet I will walk in and people will introduce themselves to me and we will become best friends OR maybe the man of my dreams will walk up and we will watch the game together and then get married). Reality ( I walk into the bar and there is not a single seat available and surprise, no one is exactly rolling out the red carpet). Finally some people get up from their table and I proceed to sit down. Eventually a couple did come in and stand off to the side until I explained that the seats around me were empty.
Long story short, they were nice and good company but no best friends or love connections! That’s okay, I still have the Aggie/Longhorn softball game in in Riverside park on Sunday! (Again, Kim’s thought bubble).
So Sunday I get up and get dressed and get ready for a fun day in the park with my future best friend or husband! So I get to the park and hmmmm, maybe I have the wrong softball field, let me look at the directions again… Oh wait, there is a guy with a longhorn shirt on, I’ll ask him. “Are you here with the Longhorn/Aggies?” “Well, I was here for the game but I guess they finished the game and went home”
So I just spent half an hour to get over to the west side of the city and I am not wasting all that time spent walking. Luckily I have a blanket with me so I lay it down in the park and sit and watch the runners, skaters, frisbee throwers, etc.
So let’s see, what is that ummm, two for two! Let’s call it a weekend! There are 8 million people in this city, I am bound to meet one friend!
That’s right New York, I am too cool for you!
