New York is full of people (around 8 million to be exact) and people need friends that love them no matter what. That is why you get a dog! I love dogs and lots of New Yorkers do to! I have seen the cutest dogs in this city. I have also seen the largest quantity of dog poop I have ever seen in my life.
My roommate has a sweet little dog named LuLu. She really is so lovable and aimiable towards most humans. Don’t get me wrong, if someone were to attack her Mama I am sure she would bite their ankles but she has such a nice disposition!
So what is my point in telling you this… There are families in my building who have dogs and again, I must stress that I love dogs. I do not however like mean dogs. This morning I head out of my apartment during my usual morning routine and the elevator stops at my floor. (Let me explain the elevator in my building, we live in a pre-war building so the elevator is not exactly spacious. I would say it is about 5 feet by 3 feet.)
As I open the door to enter the elevator there is a woman and her two dogs, a Dalmation and a Mini Pincher. We both smile and say “hi”. I say, “oh, is that a miniature pincher?” she says “yes” I say “can I pet him” and right as I say this I notice that she is having to use all of her might to hold this little monster back as it starts to lunge at me. “Well, he is not nice, he bites” Just then the door opens and he starts snarling at me and they walk out of the elevator. As I walk out she says, “sorry, you had to start your day like this” and nervously laughs.
I must preface this by saying that this is actually the second time someone in my building was in the elevator with their own Kujo. WHAT THE CRAP, not even the dogs in this city are friendly!!!!
I don’t know, I am just thinking out loud but if I had a rabid animal and I was about to get in a 5/3 foot enclosed cage I might decide to let other passengers go and just take the next ride. Call me crazy but I think I would opt to not have a dog in a city where there is no such thing as personal space.
